The dining area was restaurant like, but still gave off a vibe of hominess. There were many places for residents to enjoy a variety of activities, from general socializing to games, billiards, reading and media. The formal seating area had a nice, cozy fireplace. The common areas had a modern, spacious design. The nurse’s station looked more like s hotel lobby, with an elegant, modern, decor.
They also regularly visit local restaurant favorites, the public library and movies – and take day trips into the surrounding regions.
The resort level amenities included what you would find while vacationing, such as tennis, boating, hiking and other outdoor activities. Plenty of space for residents to enjoy social gatherings, also with a lovely Roman type fountain. The exterior featured well manicured lawns and a fresh, Spanish look. Just like the other facility, the grounds resembled a resort. We had visited the Arbor which was part of the same company that runs King’s Crown at Shell Point, so decided to check it out as well, as an option for my friend’s mother. When a lot of facilities had COVID, they did not. They didn’t let anyone in and they had a lot of Covid precautions and I respected that because they were protecting their patients. There was somebody every time I went in that was wiping the place up or something. You could see a person disinfecting while the Covid was going on. The facility had a lot of rooms, it was clean, and it didn’t smell.

They have a movie night room and do outside outings too. They have a game room with all kinds of games. They’re putting out what the patients need. They offer help with bringing their meals that they can’t come out to get. They work with the patients that are not able to do things so they can’t be on their own. They have bathrooms and the accommodations were great. They were roomy and weren’t like a small space. They have semi-private and some private ones. It’s a nice facility, clean, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. That’s where we were looking to put my mother in if my sister wasn’t able to take her in. The patients were happy and they all were interacting with one another. Priscilla, the one that handles admissions, was awesome and helpful. We toured The Rose Garden of Fort Myers assisted living and that was nice. The upkeep and maintenance seem to be fantastic, I didn’t see any issues. So if you garden, they have a common garden that you can use. They have a maintenance area for golf carts, and they also have a garden. They have a salon, fitness room, they have extensive medical care on the campus, they have a pool, and they have various club areas. It’s a restaurant like, it has a salad bar, the staff wait on you, so it’s similar to a restaurant atmosphere. The dining area is very open, so it’s conducive for people to sit there. I did try the food, and it was very good.
They have kitchens, bathrooms, and they have an open window, almost like a terrace window. The rooms were all renovated, home-like, and spacious. The staff was fantastic, very open to answering any questions, gave us information, and helped us go through the process. It has various amenities that I think a person who is 55 and over would enjoy and feel at home.
I toured Shell Point Retirement Community.
